the best thing is my OS ways are rubbing off a little on my H. A few weeks ago he bought some Birds Eye potato fishcakes and declared that he could make them himself. Bear in mind this blokes idea of cooking is a frozen pizza so he cooked all the fish, spuds, made breadcrumbs and added some veg. Was well impressed.
So whenever we have anything shop bought (not very often) one of us nearly always says we could have made this ourselves.

  • You definately save money making from scratch and avoiding filling your freezer with boxes of expensive rubbish.

However, I must confess occasionally when I get home from work and had planned to cook from scratch I wish that there was a quick meal in the freezer which I could take out the box and pop in the oven

I've always wondered about goujons. Where on a fish - and a chicken - it's not as if their anatomy is that similar - are they?

A goujon is a strip of meat. You can get fillets from both fish and chicken, too :D

    Thank you Pink :T

I just had a look at the batter for fish, I have to due a different type of batter that doesn't use beer as I can't really have beer in the house. My DH is ex-alc, so I have to be careful.
I can just use the ordinary batter we make for Yorky puds and pancakes?

Try fizzy water instead of beer or just use your favourite batter mix. The beer is more to make a light batter than for flavour, so you won't be missing out by omiting it.

Umm... Stephen ( or so it appears from what I've read of his postings ) actually is quite foodwise... he was just having a bit of light hearted fun, I'm pretty sure he knows what a goujon is :)
