i have a new credit card(tesco)with 0% on for 14 months,i am after a new car and thought how i can use this 0% to my advantage,i mean, why use savings(even though with the low interest rate its not earning much, but every little helps lol) i have a credit limit of 6000 on the 0% card,i am looking to borrow 5000 from it(towards car).......now.....if i balance transfered 5000 from the 0% card(i know i would have BT fees) to another card i have(MBNA,which has a zero balance owing) that card would then have a positive balance of 5000,if i then wrote a credit card cheque from the credit card with 5000 too much in and paid it into my bank account, would i be charged cash advance fees? my theory is no,because i am not having the money from them,i am just taking what is overpayed......but i stand to be corrected lol...anyone?

would be so much easier if garages just took credit cards and not bankers cheques lol

  • credit cards are not meant to have a positive balance .... not by £5000 anyways!!!
the only 1 i can think of was the egg money card which has been discontinued.
u r better off buyng on a card with 0% on purchases mate....

You may find the CC company put a stop on the card with the positive balance.CC companies dont like cards to have a positive balance as it is a way of laundering money.

looking at the fees,it is the same fee to balance transfer as it is to have a cash advance,so can simply write a cheque from 0% card into my bank account
