Thanks !
To (try) to cut a long story short, we had a new combi boiler installed in feb 2006 by a guy who was recommended by a friend and who advised that he was CORGI registered.
we have never had any problems whatsoever with the boiler and have never looked back, we had the boiler serviced a month or so ago (by a different CORGI registered person) and that person was perfectly happy with the boiler.
However, now are in the process of selling our property and our buyers have called for the CORGI Certificate. we have never had this. we have sent them the gas safety certificate received on the recent service of the boiler but they are insisting on the CORGI certificate issued on installation. We have contacted the person who installed the boiler and he has (halfheartedly) now completed the installation form at the back of the booklet that came with the boiler (we had never looked at this because we had never had a problem with the boiler).
I don't believe that this is going to be sufficient for our buyers - is it a CORGI certificate ?
Our solicitor has advised that it may be possible to offer an indmenity policy to cover the building regs issue.
can anyone please advise as to where we go from here ? is the bit at the back of the booklet the certificate ? should we ask CORGI for a Certificate or should our installer have done this ?
Its now delaying our house sale and we are in jeopardy of losing our related purchase so any suggestions would be very gratefully received.
Many many thanks for taking the time to read

Good evening: Your installer should have been able to self-certify the installation to CORGI then a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate would have been issued directly to you via post ..Contact Gas Safe Register ( took over from CORGI on April 1, 2009) for clarification . Further guidance here. The 'bit' at the back of the manual is the Benchmark Log and not a certificate....should have been filled out after the boiler was commissioned.

Just buy the indemnity insurance, its a few pounds, worth it to keep the house sale on track. Gas safe register ain't going to be interested in something from 3 years ago they can hardly cope with working out who is registered today!0

As Canucklehead said. The installer should have registered the install with CORGI. Not sure what good it would do chasing Gas Safe Register for it as the two systems aren't linked as far as I know. CORGI are still about at www.trustcorgi.com and you might get more info from them. HTH0

Good morning: If consumers don't register complaints about dodgy installers, lack of compliance with Building Regulations etc. then nothing will change
We'll continue to see threads about this subject on MSE ad infinitum. Report the installer to Gas Safe Register.
To rejig an old prhase.... when good people do nothing cowboys triumph.;)

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated. He is still operating and installed a boiler for a friend more recently and they don't have a certificate either so he's obviously still not completing the appropriate paperwork !
The building regs issue should be fine as we can purchase the indemnity insurance for a few quid as suggested - my partner was terrified we would have to have a perfectly good boiler ripped out and replaced just to obtain a valid Gas Safe or CORGI certificate.
I have woken up this morning after an awful night's sleep absolutely livid with this man so I will be making my thoughts known to the relevant organisations.
again, thank you.0 -

Thats NOT going to happen.
Your Boiler is fine , its JUST the paperwork0
