I want to bump this please as I have a half brother, and a half sister I've never met. I know their names but nothing more.

I think yuo can contact the Salvation Army, they can help with tracing lost family members, iirc.

go to the register office and request a copy of his birth certificate, then start looking on the electoral register, I think thats kept at the library.

Just a thought, if you know the person's name have you tried looking on Friends Reunited or Facebook? I expect there are other similar sites you can check out.

Electoral Roll seems the best thing for this. My ex had a similar situation a while ago and ust "bumped" into them one day after finding out about them - I guess thats just pure luck or fate!

Try https://www.192.com too - to see if he is listed on the electoral roll, then go and look at the electoral roll via the council?

I found my OH's son who he hasn't seen for 14 years by using 192.com and then I also found his page on Bebo (Facebook for youngsters).

Many big libraries have a copy the St Catherine's Register. That covers the whole country. This lists the mother's name at the time as well as the childs name. Try first under the mother's surname at that time, for any children with the right first name, born to that surname, with mother having the same surname in the right town.

Records are organised by quarter but bear in mind that births may not be registered until the next quarter, particularly March, June, September and December babies.

If you have any idea which quarter he was born, you can ask the Regsitry Office in the area where he was born for a search under

    First name,
    approximate date of birth,
    mother's name,
not sure if registered under mother's surname or fathers name
    Town where born.

I would expect them to turn him up.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
