Advice with Virgin Credit Card Please

Just wondered if someone could advise me please? Just opened a Virgin credit card because of the 0% for 16 months. My first payment was due on 27th of month, I made a payment on 23rd it came out of my bank on 25th but didn't show on credit card until 28th. I have now been charged £12 late payment fee and charged interest and think they have cancelled promotional 0% interest. I am sure I made the payment before 5pm on the 23rd but have no proof (it says that if it was paid before 5pm on the Wednesday it would be on my account on the Saturday). Does anyone think it would be worth phoning up to try to negotiate to get my 0% back or have I messed up? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Definately ring them. This happened to me and they reinstated the 0% but I still got the interest and the charges for that month.
You could offer them proof that you paid it from your bank on the 25th and hopefully they will be lenient with you like they were with me.

Even if you had acted before 5.00pm, payment online via the Virgin site would still not have reached your account on the payment due date. The time required is shown on site and on the back of your monthly statements.
Might be an idea to set up a direct debit to pay the minimum amount. That way, it's Virgin's responsibility, not yours, to make sure the monthly repayments get there on time.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

Thank you all for your replies, I will ring them and see what happens. I know it was mt fault I left it too late but my Dad was ill and it completely slipped my mind. I will set up a DD for future.
Moggles I didn't keep a record of the transaction and just checked my dates again and did make the payment on the 22nd not the 23rd (got muddled with my dates!) Thanks again.0 -
Just to update you, I phoned Virgin and explained what had happened, they offered a refund of the late payment fee, the interest charges and reinstated the 0% interest without me even asking. :j Thank you for the advice.0
