Is this against Ebay rules ?

HI,
I sell alot of 99p items (they are only worth 99p, no more!). Is it against the rules to put in my listing that I will end the auction after 1 Bid and make that person the winner ? Would it count as fee avoidance because I'm not using their extortionate buy it now ?

Thanks!

Are you allergic to getting more than 99p each? How strange! :rotfl:
Why not start them at 99p and let them run?

Why not just list them for a shorter time? I do this with items that I don't expect to get more than 99p for, and it seems to work fine.

I'm, anti-capitalism anti-profit :rotfl: No really the items I sell have a set value, it doesn't/won't change. So in the interests of my buyers they can get their items faster. Suppose I could use short listings but I'm lazy and it means re-listing them all the time if they don't get a bid!

I have a feeling ebay would class this as fee avoidance. A very strong feeling. You might get away with ending some listings early, but spelling it out in your description is most likely asking for it.

Seems a bit bonkers to me - why cause trouble for yourself ? Leave the auction to run, worst case is you get what you think the item is worth (or nothing, but no charge either if it doesn't sell), best case is you get more.

Remember, it's not what you think the item is worth that matters - it's what it is worth to the buyer, which may be more than 99p.

You could try a shorter listing (3 days / 5 days) and use the automatic "re-list until sold" option.

Depending on what you are selling, you could also consider listing on Amazon or Play, which is effectivly a free BIN.

Maybe you should be thinking about registering as a business if you are selling a lot of the same 99p item...?

Worse penalty for that than fee avoidance, as more people than just ebay are likely to start sniffing around your affairs.
