Hello
Can anyone recommend a cheap remedy for dry, itchy, flaky scalp.
I've just been to the hairdresser and she blew dry it, which has made it worse...
Any advice welcome.
Thanks!

Maybe a trip to the doctor, it could be a fungal infection, eczema, scalp psoriasis to name but a few. Or you could try buying some medicated shampoo from the pharmacy such as nizoral or t-gel ?
Could also be the shampoo that you are using, the heat of the hairdryer could have aggrevated it. I always have to wash my hair before i go for a cut as only one shampoo and conditions suits my scalp.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
i get my OH Nizerol. he has very sensative skin and bad flaky scalp and bad dandruff and i called the doctor who recommended to try this first. you use it twice a week and his head really cleared up even after first wash. its £8 a bottle and only small but u only use a very little bit.
he gets sore ears with it too so i just put a little sudocreme on that and its fine

Virgin Coconut Oil and monolaurin's O-SSI reduction and in vitro broad-spectrum activity against Staphylococcus aureus, fungi, and viruses and also curiously enough head lice.
if you could rub it into your scalp and leave it for an hour or so (or as longer if possible) before shampooing it will have time for the anti fungal activity to work if that is the underlying cause.
Coconut oil when eaten in the diet also works well with a low carb Paleo Style way of eating. You'll see here how improvements in hair and skin are frequently reported by those consuming a lower carbohydrate, paleo style diet.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

You know me so well :rotfl::rotfl:
OP do visit your GP and get a formal diagnosis, dont just accept out word on possible remedies. If it is a fungal infection then yes Nizarol will keep it at bay0 -
I use Nizerol too, it's great, but i get three bottles on one prescription from my GP so works out at only £2.4 a bottle and these last me about 3 months:jAll comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

Try Polytar shampoo. It has a very medicinal smell (my kids used to call it sheep dip) but is very effective. A bottle will last quite a long time.0

This may sound weird, but does anyone know if Nizoral is safe to put in your ears? I had eczema in my ears once and my GP prescribed me a shampoo to put in them but I can't remember what it was. I have it again now and I haven't been able to see the doctor, but I do have some Nizoral in the house (for use when I had a fungal rash on my back).0

I use it on the ears and on my face - just leave it on 10 mins and rinse
You can get nizoral cream on prescription which is great for the ears and face0
