How much should you have to live off of?

Just a quick question - how much money should a couple have to live off of after bills (rent and council tax) are paid per week or month? Is there a set amount? Just wondering. All this benefits stuff is so complicated.

Also got a letter from the DWP today turning down my claim for DLA. They've put that basically even though I can only walk slowly for 5 minutes before being in extreme pain, and suffer from anxiety and panic attacks (both resulting in me needing someone with me) - that I'm not entitled. So, now I have to appeal, and I don't feel up to up but I have to. It just sickens me that people lie and get awarded it no problems, yet geniune people get turned down.

It depends on the circumstances of the couple but the basic applicable amount for a couple over 18 is £100.95 per week.
