Hi. I'm looking to buy a 'nearly new' Citroen C3. Having checked loads of sites I've found a C3 1.4i Lx 5dr, 9500 miles, 53 Reg for £4,699. This sounds like a seriously good deal to me, but I am not experienced in buying cars! I'm waiting for them to quote me on trade-in for my 98 S Reg Clio (£72,000 miles).
My queries are...does anyone have any experience of Motorpoint? I don't need finance, but they seem to be offering finance, 3 yrs roadside assistance and 3yrs guarantee. If I don't take finance do I still get the other 2?
Does this sound like a good deal to those 'in the know' with car selling/buying experience?
What questions should I ask them about the cars background etc?
Thanks for your time!

Yes, I do have experience of motorpoint.
They usually tempt you into their showrooms with offers such as these, but when you get there they are gone. All the best offers have seemingly just sold out, and you now have a vicious salesman with his teeth into you.
Badly serviced vehicles, many of which have 'issues' (mine had a faulty suspension damper and spring, brakes sticking, practically no back pads) which while should immediately fail an MOT, it somehow goes straight through Motorpoints 'special' MOT

Go to http://www.honestjohn.co.uk clik on the pages to the right of his site This Weeks Best Deals.
You'll then have a good idea of up to the minute GENUINE deals, of all sorts.
& don't ignore your local main dealer, to see what they'll do for you.

I had a bad time with Motorpoint. I went over with a cheque and insurance cover to be presented with a car of a different colour and bhp lower than expected.
When they could not match my requirements they barely had time to give me the phone number of a taxi firm to take me back to the railway station.
Be aware that their sales people are aggressive. If there is anything wrong with the vehicle they will send you to the main agent for warranty work.
Never again for me but they do sell cars in quantity.0 -
Have a look at Available Car at Castle Donnington, not too far from MotorpointThat gum you like is coming back in style.0

I'd echo the other replies in that they aren't very good to deal with...customer service is distinctly lacking! and the selection of cars they offer aren't of very good quality!

A trick that places like these play is that when you get there to view this "brilliant deal" the salesman will tell you that the car is out on a test drive. They will then start talking to you about other vehicles like the one you are after, which are slightly more expensive. They will hope that you have only budgeted for the car you have come to view, therefore if you was to take a more expensive car you will have to take their finance deals.
After half an hour or so of hard sell, and it is very hard sell they will tell you they will go and find out about the car you originally came to see. Lo and behold the car has sold and you now have no option but to look at the alternatives that the salesman has already offered.
The people who work in places such as Motorpoint are excellent salesmen, i know as one who worked in a place such as this now works for me. If you are not strong enough to contend with people who could sell ice to an eskimo then i would avoid.0 -
Please also remember the unavoidable 'Valeting and number plate' charges!'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

We purchased a nearly new car (Astra) from motorpoint a couple of years ago. If you want a common car then it helps. We had about 6 or 8 Astra's to choose from. All 6-8 months old with 8-10K on the clock. Some were not so hot, but several were showroom condition, and at a good discount to new.The purchase was easy.
We managed not to pay their "number plate" fee (had to play hard ball though). They put their new plates on it anyway, which was a shame as one has water ingress now.
As far as I could tell most of the cars we looked at were ex europcar hire cars, so it's down to each car as to how they have been treated. We were pleased with our purchased.
We didn't really experience the pushy sales people. It could have been because they were busy. We just wandered around and checked the cars out we liked and they gave us the keys when we asked. The only annoying thing was the queue to pay and the push to sell us credit we didn't want.0 -
