Excursions in Tunisia

Hi all,
I normally book all of my holiday excursions in advance through Viator.com (if you don't know about this, have a look -it's fantastic! - it let's you book package holiday-type excursions for a fraction of the cost - perfect for independent travellers) - however, they don't list anything under Tunisia. - Does anyone know of any agent that books Tunisian excursions in the way Viator does?
Many thanks in advance..

Sorry - not going to be very helpful - it's just that I'm interested in the same information! I've been to Tunisia a couple of times and - unlike Spain, Turkey, etc - I've never noticed any companies in resort offering tours. Maybe if you do a search with the specific tours your looking for - ie Matmata or Tatouine (sp?)0

I used to live in Tunisia and, as the previous poster has said, there are not many local agencies selling tours.
A lot of them seem to be sold in hotels.
Just in case it helps, the most popular one is the Sahara Explorer (which can be done as 2, 3 or 4 days) which takes in El Jem ampitheatre, the Star Wars house at Matmata, camel riding on the Sahara at Douz and the salt flats, amongst others If you do the 3 or 4 day version you go in a 4x4 over the sand dunes which is well worth it.
There are also tours to some of the ancient Roman sites like Thuburbo Majus and Carthage, and tours to Tunis.
Don't know if that will help you with the prebooking though!0 -

Hiya, I visited Tunisia a few years ago now, must admit it was not my favourite holiday, but the best part of it was going down to the Sahara, salt flats etc as mentioned above. It was a one night stop-over for me, but a part I will remember forever. The sand is so soft and fine compared to the stuff on our beaches, to get to see a lot of the "real" Tunisia. Oh and a horse and camel both managed to break wind close enough to me to be memorable too, stay away from the rear end's of the animals.
