Are they still releasing security updates for Firefox 2?

If not, I'd be inclined to use something else myself.

I think there's quite a lot of info on the web about replacing them because it's a fairly widespread problem. I think reaching all the affected capacitors involves quite a bit of awkward dismantling and then there's the identifying and sourcing of suitable replacements and soldering them into place to worry about...
We've got one with this problem where I work but I don't think we're going to bother fixing it due to the effort involved... It's just sat under a bench in limbo. I should just let it go off to computer heaven.

Thanks for info. Yes I had a look at other blogs on this, might have a go myself, the Emac is under my desk, makes a good footrest!
If you are going to dump yours could you give me a shout, might need to practice! Mine is a 1.25gHz bought Nov. 04 which seems to be in the middle of the faulty capacitor time!

No it was frozen at 2.0.0.20.

Apple aren't release updates for anything older than 10.4.xx are they either? So if you are using an OS older, you'll be at risk of potential security issues too.

I agree, which is why the OP should consider upgrading. They'd still be more secure with a recent browser though.

Tiger could be about to go the way of the Dodo anyway with the imminent release of Snow Leopard, though it's just had a security update, so things would still be better.
