London holiday accommodation for family of 4

Hi! I am looking for suitable accommodation for a family of 4 who would like to visit London for 10 days during the 1st half of August. Children are 10 and 13 years old. They're looking for a friendly charming place to use as a base to visit London, so a comute into central London wouldn't be a big issue as long as it is straighforward (e.g 30 minute train into Waterloo). They will also rent a car for 4 days or so to visit other places such as Bath, Stonehedge, etc. Budget for accommodation would be around £800. I would really appreciate some suggestions on the best type of accommodation, e.g. B&B, apartment, etc. and also on specific places that would be suitable for a family to spend 10 days. Many thanks.
