Ideally I would have preferred to replace the sash windows with like for like or uPVC sash and case windows. However the cost factor was just too high to make it a valid option. (we were quoted between £1000 & £3000 per window x 8 windows)

If money is no option then go for sash and case, if you are on a budget then unfortunately Tilt & Turn seems to be the only economic option

Does this company have a web page, an address, or are they operating with just a mobile number?

This is my first time replying on this board but felt my experiences totally contradict 'juliescot' and are similar to 'sammi'. Personally I couldn't recommend Freelance Windows highly enough as we got our windows replaced 3 months ago at almost 20% less than our other 2 quotes and delivery time was 10 days quicker. we even got a follow up email saying they'd launched a new website- freelancewindows.com - and asked if we were happy with the work and if there was anything outstanding to not hesitate contacting them. However, the main reason I would happily rate Freelance Windows is because the man we dealt with - Martin- was so positive, speedy and actually cleaned up after the job with his team! A first in my dealings with workmen. Thank you

A quick follow up to my previous notes, we have had a minor problems with the exterior sealing on the windows. The original sealer had used slightly too few sealant to make the seal look prettier but more likely to split which is what happened. Martin came round to look at the problem less than a week after advising him of the fault. He returned a few days later with some sealant and packing for the frames to improve the seal around the windows. A problem we never even noticed. Martin has promised that if we notice anything else, then give him a call and he will be round asap. This is one of the few times I actually believe that promise.

    Top marks to all involved
  • I always think that using a smaller company is better. You are not paying for large company profits and often find that the standard of service is better as its more personal. I used a small company to draught proof my old windows. I found them in yell, they are called JCW, the price was resonable and the work excellent. They will give free estimates and are very friendly.

I've been quoted £300 + vat per window (then £80 on top of that if sill replacement req) to renovate my sash and case windows (standard Glasgow tenement size).

    Does this sound about right?

Spectrum Windows of Glasgow are are very reliable company that I have used twice in the past. They give a reasonable price and turn up when they say they will. I would highly recommend them for window repairs in the Glasgow Area.
