Tesco cc added 5 days onto period without telling us

Hello

We have a tesco mastercard that since christmas has been paid of in full every month, which we've had no problems until this month.

First they messed up the direct debit and only took the min payment instead of the full amount. We called them and they promised to refund charges and sort out the direct debit so it wouldn't happen again.

Now they've changed the cut of date for the statement. Normally the statement period ends on the 11th of the month and I can then go onto the website and see how much we'll be paying the following month, but this month the website just kept on adding what we were spending onto the Apr-May month (I tend to do a big shop and fill up my car at the start of the statement month which alone came to £150)

When we called them they said the statement end date had been moved to the 16th of the month - we'd had no notice of this at all. This means that next month I need to find over £200 extra, which if we'd had some warning I would've been prepared for.

Before I call them and give them hell does anyone know if they can do this? And are they only doing this because at the moment they're not getting any interest out of??

Thanks for any advice given

Theresa

    check your contract.

then write a letter of complaint for the wrong charges due to their error, and then point 2 should be on the date change.

im sure though they need to give you ar least 14 days notice of payments tho...

If you need to find £200 next month then you are using money you do not have and perhaps a budgeting lesson would be better for you than getting angry.

You could of course apply for a new card with someone else.

I have to agree Im afraid, you shouldnt depend on credit cards. They are the really for emergencys / online purchase.

Dissagree - credit cards are part of the budgeting process (moving money from one period until the other).

LJ, I agree. Also, the OP is getting points back by using a tesco cc so why not get rewarded for what you would spend anyway!? I do!
