Missing stamps.........

I sent a large letter in a plastic self seal bag. It was posted at the post office and the lady serving me weighed and attached the stamp. I got a receipt and certificate of posting.
The item arrived minus the stamps, luckily the postman delivered it and no payment was asked from the buyer.

What would have happened if it wasn't delivered because a fee needed to be paid?

Buyer would have received an orange card and had to pay the cost of posting plus a £1 handling fee. If buyer had sent that card and payment receipt to you then you could have claimed the costs back from RM as you can show it was paid and accepted by the PO.

This happens a fair bit with plastic packaging, the PO still use stick on stamps that slide off, all you can do is print th elabel bit a bit bigger and ask them to put the stamp on the paper bit as it tends not to fall off.

I have a line of items that goes in a plastic mailing sack on a large letter stamp, I now stamp those myself as the books of stamps are self adhesive and stick better and they are the one item that I take with a COP to the PO ready stamped. I can't trust the items to get there otherwise.

I had a similar problem to this a couple of weeks back. Seller sent someting to me, but had no stamps on it and 'REVENUE PROTECTION' sticlers plastered all over it. Luckily our postie didn't charge. Politely told the seller he didn't put any postage on it, to which he replied that he did as he sent it from PO and has COP, despite the postcode being wrong?!?!

Not sure what you mean about the postcode being wrong?

The Post office don't check them you know unless it is special delivery or sent parcel post.
