  • Super - thanks!

I've now got a bit snap happy and taken more photos of my plants. I am slightly obsessed with them but as I've just been made redundant I've not a lot else on!!!!!

Sorry to hear that, please bear in mind your name is on your photo file. Be wary about sharing it.

  • Oh yes.

    Thanks

After having pinched out the tops of my broad bean plants last week to avoid blackfly they are now on one of my plants, not just at the top but halfway down as well . They actually look like little black non flying things rather than blackfly. Should I pull up the whole plant to get rid of them or leave it in and hope they get their fill and don't move on to the other plants (wishful thinking methinkis lol)? And why are they on the stem if they like the tips? TIA.

    What plant?
Where is this plant [indoors, outdoors, greenhouse etc]?

Have you tried the soft soap solution that has already been advised on this thread?

    Broadbean.
    Outdoors.
No, I've only just discovered the problem this morning and haven't been able to get out to a shop yet. I don't suppose I could use diluted washing-up liquid?

I don't, but then again I have a tub of soft soap in the cupboard. Alot of people do, make sure it is very dilute.

Or, just wipe them off [or 'out' depending on how you think of things].

If you have a bad infestation you can use your hosepipe on fine spray to wash them off the stem and young beans. You still need to pinch out the growing tips and you'll have to repeat the washing off after a day or so.
