Are you liable for Current Account Fraud

Here are the facts, can someone tell me who is liable in this instance?

- Registered for a new Vodafone contract phone
- Had a call on same day from 'Vodafone'
- They asked me to validate account with address etc. not pin number, but account number.
- Then discovered 2 days later that money had been taken out of current account (£150)

Am i liable or can i legally claim this back from the bank? What are the variables in cases like this?

Call Vodafone, did they take it out? If so then they will need to refund you, otherwise contact the bank and ask them for an ademinty claim (not sure of spelling there) as its an unautherised direct debit
  • Rang Vodafone as soon as it was known, but they said they knew nothing about it. Turns out the man who rang was NOT from Vodafone.

I tried searching for that word 'ademinty' but it came up with nothing...

I think he meant to type indemnity claim! NOT ademinty LOL

seriously though your bank will refund it, worst case scenario.
