Charged £150 This Month For Overdrawn

I received a letter from HSBC last week saying they were going to charge me £150 for being over my overdraft limit but every other time they have charged me £50. I know I spend too much but I do like going out he he
When I went to the bank there was only one person in the bank at the time and she said that she cant do anything.

Normally if I go over my overdraft limit by more than £200 the cash dispenser won`t let me have any more money or it will ask if I want to continue then I will get charged £25.

The following week when I got paid , I actually had an extra £1000 go into my account so it`s not as if I was over my overdraft limit for long either.

I have asked to raise my overdraft by £200 but they say I am not allowed to even though I am on very good money and I have been with the same bank for over 20 years so they know exactly how much I get paid and exactly when I will get paid as it goes in the same time every month. If they raised my overdraft by £200 then I would be fine.

Is this a deliberate ploy so they can screw me for every penny they can get. How can they justify going from £50 per month overdrawn charges to £150 when all I had was an extra £150.

Can anyone help me and suggest what I can do as this is not right.

  • ermmm, I think you have overspent and because you are continually going over the overdraft they can't increase it. It's a bit like me saying to you lend me £100 yet the last time you did I paid you now and then and not at set intervals.
You need to reclaim the charges, and dare I say this, not go out as much ;)
