Public liability insurance

I work for 2.5hrs per week as a youth worker (40 weeks per year). The club is based in a church and I am paid by the church (self-employed). The church originally said I was covered by their PLI but I have just found out that this only covers volunteers.
I need to get appropriate PLI in place urgently. Can someone please point me in right direction for what I need? Hopefully as cheaply as possible as I only do the work part time.
Thanks in advance.
Jackie

A local broker will fix you up.
Add its cost onto your fees!0 -
Definalty get the cover as soon as possible! A broker will probably be your best bet, but try a few of the small business direct insurers/broker brands like Premierline Direct, MoreThan business and Direct Line for business too.0

You need to be aware that many insurers have withdrawn public liability cover in respect of abuse allegations. Some will offer it as a buy back with a lower indemnity limit but at a significant extra cost.
In simple terms, say the policy has a limit of £1m cover, the abuse cover may be limited to £250k. The problem being that once one case is identified and received press coverage, further claimants come forward.0 -
Other half is a builder and i just did his insurance with direct line, last year it was with norwich union and we paid loads more. I searched for tradesman insurance this time, have just received the policy details and the cover looks the same as last years.0

Thanks for your replies so far. Unfortunately, it would appear that I am not straightforward for the insurers as no-one has been able to provide me with a quote so far! Surely my situation can't be that unique?
I'm hoping that Financeredirect may be able to help - their website shows group liability insurance for groups who meet regularly in a venue. I have to be patient and wait for them to respond now that I've sent off the online form!
If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Cheers
