Children and Opticians question

I wouldn't mind booking it well in advance, and I do think that loads of children running around and getting bored etc would be difficult, but mine are teenages and the eldest is over 16, so I think it is more to do with the money side of it rather than their age.0

Yes you're right. I suspect that the money side of it is a consideration too, since often chidren require no glasses and therefore the potential for a sale is lost.I wouldn't mind booking it well in advance, and I do think that loads of children running around and getting bored etc would be difficult, but mine are teenages and the eldest is over 16, so I think it is more to do with the money side of it rather than their age.0 -
Well to be fair it is a business and I guess they are entitled to make business decisions. I got a saturday appointment for my 16 year old and I was surprised because I thought I wouldn't.Sell £1500

No I'm sorry I don't agree. The system is set up to give people the choice to have their glasses made up at a different location to where they have their eyes tested. It would be anti-competitive to have it otherwise.
But it does make since to do both at the same place. If everyone took their prescriptions to be dispensed elsewhere, most small Opticians would have to charge £60 for an eye exam or close, which wouldn't be good for competition either.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Yes, that might be the case. eye examinations may become more expensive. But if there are say three opticians in a town and each dishes out a prescription without a glasses sale, it might be the case the each of them gets a dispensing from the other, if you see what I mean? The glasses have to be dispensed somewhere, and I guess the real problem for the independent is that people might choose an internet provider.0
