I'm bidding on a dining table which ends at 6.30am, I'm worried I will sleep in and miss the end of bidding, so I was wondering which of the following works...

current price £99.99 with 1 bid (me)

BIN price £170.00

a) is the BIN price void as I have bidded?
b) if I put in a max bid of £170, I will have automatically bought it for that.
c) if I put in a max bid of £170, if someone else gets it to £169, I will automatically win it at the BIN price?

I hope this makes sense, im trying not to have to wake up early!

    a) no
    b) no, it means ebay with automatically it up to £170 for you
    c) yes, unless they bid higher again (which would be stupid)

tigtag02, things could pan out differently (but hopefully not for butler_helen's sake)....

    a) Yes, if that option has disappeared, which is usually the case(?). If not, then someone could still BiN for £170
    b) No, you buy it for what the auction ends at - assuming you're still the highest bidder at the end of it
    c) Yes, but stupid as it may be, someone could still bid more than the BiN price if this option has disappeared (I've seen it happen on numerous occasions).

All the best! Here's hoping you win :), G

Hope you get the table, once u have made a bid the buy it now price disappears, so it could go for £99.99 or could go for £500.
If it was me and I had a maximum bid I would put that in and keep fingers crossed. x

    Hi

A/ As soon as a bid has been made, the BIN price becomes irrelevant. You can only use buy it now BEFORE a bid has been made.

B/ The BIN price no longer has any relevance, so no, you won't end the auction by bidding at the BIN price.

C/ See B. You'll win if you bid the highest price at the time the auction finishes. If you enter another bid of £150 now (so you've bid £99 AND £150), and no one else bids, you'll win at £99. If someone bids at £125, you'll win at the next increment above £125 - £126 I think. If someone bids £151 or higher, you'll lose.

As mum2one said, bid as high as you're prepared to pay, and if you win it for less, great. If you don't win, then you weren't prepared to pay enough.

The BIN option will still be there if there is a reserve on the item.

    Hi,

I wrote the post last night and then looked at tigtag02's comments and then I still woke up at 6.30am just incase! Although mainly because the BIN price didn't disappear (evidently very odd).

We think we won because the collection is from a rather inconvenient place and it doesn't collapse so you need a van (plus the 6 chairs dont collapse either). £99.99 for a new table and 6 chairs seems ok to me so I hope it is as nice as the photo when we collect tomorrow!

lisawood78 - I think the £99.99 was the reserve, although it showed on the screen and surely a reserve is hidden? Ebay is getting more and more confusing the more I buy on there!

    Thank you for the help!
