If you found yourself getting turned down for credit, a Notice of Correction could help.

NOoooooo - a NOC is worse as it means each application is manually processed by an underwriter. You're better chasing the chance of the system letting it through as opposed to an u/w refusing straight out....

NOC = pain in the !!!! lol

I have a single '3' late payment on my credit file and that was nearly 5 years ago, but i still got turn down credit because of the 'adverse' data....

Mate totally dispute this i'm afraid. After 5yrs they cannot and it will not be used in any credit scoring decision. 5yrs is a long time in terms of credit and most lenders stick to the known premise of last 12 months and in certain circs they go back 3yrs maximum.

I think you'll struggle to see a lender that refers 6yrs except Nationwide and A&L - they are known for it mate.

How do you know most lenders go back at least 3 years? Thought they look at data going back 6 years? Interesting, Nationwide are the ones who turned me down!! So perhaps you are right!

Thanks very much for help :) I'm not missing any payments ever again, that's for sure.
The reason the account was dormant was because it was in dispute, but the dispute has been settled now as they've refunded my charges :)

Haha come on mate, when am I not right when it comes to CRA's? :rotfl:

seriously though, I got told this by Lee Hancock (Experian) in an email when I moaned about it and he kinda let slip  he pretty much said that after 3yrs the data will not be used. Also, know about Nationwide and A&L cos its known they are tight in giving accounts and therefore they must go back 6yrs.....

Glad you confirmed it was NW that rejected you, it does add up with what i'm saying then ;)

I don't understand why Equifax refuse to remove YOUR NOC???? It was YOUR request to log the NOC in the first place....IT IS YOUR RIGHT to get them removed if you want to... Is there a reason why Equifax would refuse to do so? I got the feeling it must got to do with the address link dispute or CIFAS?

Exactly mate - I never added it either! It was them that done it regards to court data - basically says 'equifax cannot confirm if court data is settled or failed' LOL

Nowt to do with me mate - but i'll sue em, maybe

I mean i'll be looking for enforceability to remove via county courts....
