hi just wondering how long to wait to not be paid before relisting the item and leaving a negative feedback?
i am listing up to about 40 items and have done loads of listings one after the other, never sold on ebay before, i am pedantic about paying same day

You can only open a non paying bidder dispute after 7 days and if no response from buyer wait 7 days to close it and receive final value fee refund. So technically 14 days to relist. You can use your own discretion on this but leave yourself open to problem if buyer pays later.
Sellers cannot leave negative feedback under any circumstances, filing the disputes will leave strikes against non payers and a certain number if strikes will result in the buyer being deregistered from Ebay.
Make sure your buyer requirements are set correctly to block buyers who have received strikes and for buyers from places you do not ship..0 -

You could be disapointed the buyers have 7 days to pay.0 -
Also worth a visit to Buyer/Bidder Management. Changes once made & saved here will default to all your future listings. These can be changed (& saved) at any time, & also in any individual listing under 'Other things you'd like buyers to know' - not sure if this applies to 'live' listings though. G0

Buyers have the right to take up to 7 days to pay. If you put something silly like "payment required same day" then you will find that some people will take the full 7 days on principle.
If you are selling 40 items then (based only on my experience) I would guess around 30-35 will pay within 24 hours and only a couple will take more than 3 days to pay. If you are unlucky then you might get 1 or 2 that take 7 days or even need an unpaid process started.
Bear in mind it will take you a long time to package 40 items, so you might welcome some of the payments being staggered so that you can post quickly (I assume that you will be posting the same day as payment is received, if that is the timescale you expect to be paid in).0
