Car Insurance loss of no claims bonus
Does anyone know how many years No Claims Bonus you lose if you have an at fault accident.
My son has been driving for 4 years and he has an outstanding accident claim - he`s at fault. He has been advise that he will lose 3 years bonus because of this.
Is this correct?
Thank you
My son is 24 and I would also like to know if we add me and my husband (one or both) onto the quote as named drivers would he get a cheaper quote. We are both 50 and have been driving for nearly 30 years.

where they protected ?
And yes it should drop the price if he added one of you as a named driver .0 -
Assuming it's not protected I think the standard is two years loss0

You lose two years plus any no claims bonus you were earning for that year0

No - he couldn`t protect them because his insurers only offer acceptance after 5 years no claims.0 -
Thank you for your replies. I can now see why he`s showing as 1 year no claims.
Will seriously consider adding one of us to the insurance as a named driver.
It would be useful to do this anyway.0 -
it seems to depend on the insurer, who im with atm says they will reduce the ncb on my policy by 3 years if i have a fault claim
hence why im cancelling and moving and protecting my ncb (some insurers allow it to be protected at 4 years)Sealed pot challenger # 10
