I echo what custardy says, I would be very worried not to have the facility to claim any losses from Royal mail. Also paypal limits you to 1st class, no second class is available. However you can print direct from the Royal mail site as well if you want 2nd class.
Both systems are the same, put in the exact weight and decide if you have a large letter or a packet, print out label on plain paper and sellotape it to outside of parcel.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes you are correct you do, no PO stamp on the recorded or special slip and there is no compensation available.
Also, many (or all? custardy?....:rotfl:) Post office now enter even the recorded trackign details when they take their parcel so even though it doesn't help in a paypal claim just showing online that the Post office have 'accepted' it on such and such date can help calm down an aggreived bidder.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No you are not at all safe, not even 'pretty much so'.
Paypal require proof of delivery, you don't even have proof that your item was accepted by the Post office, all you have is proof you have paid for postage. Entirely different things.
For a claim for compensation Royal mail require proof of posting, and they only accept their own proof of that by stamping a receipt to say they have accepted your item.
If you are not worried about paypal claims and / or royal mail compensation you might as well just buy stamps in Superdrug where they often do them at a small discount, and stamp your packages and put them in the box.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Paypal will only have proof that you have printed postage with them. You'll still need to go to the Post Office to obtain proof that you have actually posted.
