Changing Antivirus

Hi All,

I'm thinking I need to change my antivirus as I don't think I'm covered by AVG anymore as I didn't download version 7 (I think it was) and now I get a pop up telling me I'm no longer covered.

After reading through the forum I'm thinking of changing to Avira as it seems to get positive reports, however before I do so I just wanted to check what I need to do about AVG. Do I need to remove AVG before I download Avira (and if so how do I do this, I'm a bit of a technophobe!)?

I have CCleaner which I run regularly but I also have a lot of other programmes that start when I turn on my laptop and I'm thinking I should somehow get rid of some of these so any help on that score as well would be great.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers

Rob

Download avira, uninstall avg, install avira, update it.

You'll have to list what is in startup (use msconfig, hijackthis or autoruns) to get advice on startup.

Avira is top for detection i believe. Many here use it, BUT has a nagging screen to try to get you to upgrade. SUPER annoying.

Avast is second best for detection, and has a cool interface and isnt intrusive.

AVG isnt as good as it used to be and many have stopped using it. It stopped working all the time when i used it.

I use Avast btw for the reasons above. Try them all out.

Use the 32 bit AVG removal tool. Simply uninstalling leaves bits behind/running
