Concrete Base

Any ideas as to a reasonable cost to have a reinforced concrete base laid in Cheshire ?

Needs to be 5 inches deep and 7ft x 8ft.

Thanks

  • May I ask if the base is for a shed?

the reason I ask is that if it is then it does not need to be reinforced. I am in the middle of laying a base for a log cabin which weighs 2.1 Tonnes and the specification is for 100mm (4") of concrete.

It depends whether you are wanting all the groundwork done professionally or not. My base is 5.7M x 4.5M and is on sloping ground. It took me a weekend with a mini digger in snow to get it near level. This work would obviously add to the cost were a contractor to do it.

I hope this is of some help and can save you a bit of money.

The base is for a hot tub sowill need to take the weight of 1800 litres of water and up to 6 people.
I am disabled so will not be doing any of the work myself.

ive just realised this thread is a month old, anyway ive just layed 3.4m3 of concrete for a garage base and it cost me £320.!

BTW a cubic meter of water weighs a tonne so i guess your complete tub will be about 1.5-2 tonnes.

I too am looking at putting up a sectional concrete garage and need to sort out a concrete base.

I have had a quote today of £1850 or £1600 for cash for a 24' x 15' base with damp proof, hard core and footings.

I work it out at about 4m3 of concrete plus the damp proof, hard core and labour costs.

Sounds expensive to me and Would appreciate any advice how to lower the cost without doing a bad job.

Thanks in advance for your help!
