Another ABBEY question...

I have an Abbey account with NO facility for an overdraft. If a debit is asked for and there is not enough cash in the account, it just does not get paid.... yet I am still charged £35 for this. Would the fact that I am NEVER using any of THEIR money and am never actually in the red, should this not be an added plus for me regarding reclaiming bank charges??? Yes, it's a 'hassle' for them to tell my bill people that they are not getting this months payment, NOT!!! Computer generated facility will do that automatically, surely!?? I haven't seen anything on the site to give me any insight so this is why I ask the question
