Cancelling Virgin Media

Every time I have spoken to Virgin Media customer services in the past I have needed to take Valium afterwards.

Here's my problem. We are moving house on 29 May. We currently have phone, tv and broadband package with them. I don't want to be a Virgin Media mug ever again.
How much notice do I have to give for them to disconnect the whole lot and what do I do with the electronic equipment? I pay by direct debit, so in theory if they miff me off enough I can just go on my internet banking and cancel the direct debit. What should I do, and when should I do it?

How long have you been with Virgin (plus when was tha last time you changed a service). Trying to find out if you are still incontract.

    I belive it's 30 days Notice.

We were with ntl originally and then it changed to Virgin Media and we opted for the 3 for £30. I would say a couple of years ago all this happened.

I cancelled a Virgin Media account over the phone (also converted from NTL) over two years ago and assumed the balance would go out of my Direct Debit...

Only recently, a Virgin Media account with an 'outstanding balance' (of only 8 quid) has popped up on a credit report. I phoned up, and this was apparently the remaining final bill which they classed as a 'default'. So be aware that if you cancel the Direct Debit and they still think you owe them money, they may register this fact on your credit record. Best to be wary!

You phone 150 from your VM landline, select the option you want to leave, and tell them at least 30 days before you want to leave that you want to leave.

    All pretty easy.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
