Want to extend wireless network

hi there, I need a bit of help looking for a tree in a forest

I have an all D-link wireless network and it is working fine to my father in laws house to enable broadband on the cheap!!!!

all dlink kit

300t modem and 624 router in FIL house - all fine and good
Dlink PCI wireless card & 12dbi antenna in this machine - all good and fine
dlink pci wireless card & normal antenna in machine in his house - all good and fine

I would like to get a dell latitude working downstairs in this house, but the range means that the laptop cannot connect to the 624 in FIL hse

I have another 624 router and a 2000 access point and would love to get them working as another ap in this house bridging back or what ever it is to work, I am fairly ok on networks, but cannot see the wood for the trees!!

    Hi Mate,

Right so let me get this straight,

You have broadband in fil's house,

He has a wireless router that feeds his PC and also you have enough signal to run your pc from it aswell?

You have another router and an AP to spare?

Ok mate, unfortunatly id say you could do with an 2100 ap, this has repeat function whereas the 2000 does not.

Basically you get the AP and stick it next to your pc, you set it up to connect to Fil's wireless router, then the ap will take the signal and rebroadcast it into your house, giving better range!

Then you just connect the laptop and your pc to that access point.

Alternatively you get get another pci wireless card for your pc, so one card takes it in and anotehr rebroadcasts for your laptop, Just tell windows to bridge the connection in network options.
