Clearing my poor Credit Record

Hello all
I'm happy to say that I don't owe anything on my cards etc anymore which is great and I feel I've really done well.
My questions is this. I spoke to someone recently who's advised that I can get a really clean credit file because I'm getting married. I've been advised to stop all my Electric/Gas/Mobile bills etc in my old name and just set up brand new accounts in my new name.
I can understand this, but are their any pitfalls? I know that although I might have a clean sheet I'll still need to work hard to make the grade and build the file up.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

you have changed name, but not person so you should have a financial link to your previous name so therefore you arent having a 'fresh start' so to speak, from removing your past as it would seemed to be some kind of fraud, well thats what i believe not 100% on it though
sure some1 will correct me if im wrong:pplease just thank me0 -
yeah if it was as simple as changing your last name, everyone would do it wouldnt they?!0

Oh darn I was just gonna start thinking up a new name. I quite fancied the idea grrrrrrrr.0

what you see anyway is that most lenders ask the question by the name field - previous surname/have you been known by any other name?
