what do you think of this for a wedding dress?

I love it!!!
I'd wear it with an updo, black maribou feathers and diamonds like a 1950s Hollywood starlet!
It's what you want that matters - if you like it and will feel like a princess, then go for it!0 -
I agree with Minxy!0

nooooooo. you wanted a big purple wedding so stick to your purple dresses! i know from your posts that you are not sure about the china route as they are copies, but if you went to a dress maker and asked them to make a version of a dress you like, then that is no different to what landy etc do. save yourself some pennies and go to landy etc and get the dress of your dreams. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-09

I think it is stunning! Love the fish-tail style and colour.Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
I like it but not for a wedding dress. What happened to the purple one you were going to have? Or have I got the wrong person?!
Yes thats me.I have chosen a simple dress which is going to be made up in deep plum and I have ideas for the bolero and accessories for that.BUT people keep saying to me that I will look back on photos when I am older and cringe at the purple wedding dress decicion.I feel sometimes that I am being pushed into more traditional dress rules so it was just another idea,to go for white or ivory but have it covered with black lace or embroidery so its still a bit different.
I may still go ahead and buy a crinkled taffeta ballgown I saw which everyone I have shown it to hates. Its more me to be honest,a bit dishevled looking.
I have not found anything which I feel is THE DRESS and thats why I keep settling for something then changing my mind.Actually I feel exceptionally uncomfortable in dresses and have never worn one as an adult.Maybe I should wear trousers with a long coat with a train over them?"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

I think we're ALL going to look back at our photos when we're older and cringe at them. Isn't that part of the fun? I'm looking forward to having a giggle at my wedding photos in years to come in the same way we laugh at my IL's wedding photos :rotfl:
If you want a purple dress then get a purple dress. If you want to dress up as Batman, then dress up as Batman. Do not be pushed into something that you don't want because of what you might think about it in 20 or 30 years time. I think you're far more likely to look back in future years and regret not having what you wanted, rather than being thankful that you wore something more traditional and oh-so-not-you x0 -
Why are people saying that you will look back and cringe? Purple's a great colour for a dress and all the ones I've seen you put on here and on Flickr look gorgeous.
Like blonde36er says, I think we're all going to cringe at our dresses/hair in 20 years time, but it's not really about that is it? Seems like most of the ladies in my bridal party are going for fascinators which is totally going to date my wedding photos as being in the late noughties, unless the fashion for them sticks around I suppose. But it doesn't matter, it's not going to make our marriage any better or worse in the long-term.Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

Oh what rubbish, tell them where to stick their noses if they tell you things like that! It would make me even more likely to go for it if I was getting people telling me what not to do
And I'm wearing a velvet skirt with a huge split up the side with leggings underneath as I dont wear dresses or skirts, so that seems something I'd be comfortable in. Perhaps you could adapt that idea somehow? Or just wear leggings under your dress so you're comfy? And I demand to see the dress everyone hate!

tbh as a bride i would never choose a dress that is available in a highstreet store, as knowing my luck, one of my guests would turn up in the same dress, and as that one is more an evening type dress, the likelihood is quite high
A wedding dress should stand out in a crowd, and look bridal (take that to mean OTT lol), if you just go for a cocktail dress, you might look like a guest, rather than the main attraction
personally that dress looks more bridesmaid, than bride
