Barclaycard changed me payment date!!

Just recieved my credit card bill and noticed a £12 charge for exceeding my limit which is unusual as i only use the card for petrol. I have a Direct Debit set up to repay in full every month so my initial thought was someone has be using my card as i haven't spent £500 on petrol this month!

After a bit of digging i have noticed that the crafty sods have "skipped" Aprils payment! for the last year the payment always comes out on the 1st or thereabouts but my last payment was March then the next one was this month, May. So were has Aprils gone!! I am going to ring them after work and pay off what i have put on it and cancel it.

Anyone else suffered the same fate?

No, but barclaycard did manage to 'loose' my application forms and were just generally pants at managing my account when I was a student and I haven't touched them since.

Reading the forums it sounds like I've had a happier life for it.

Don't just accept the charge. Write a short letter stating that the letter is a formal complaint and detailing the issue to customer service (address should be on the website). If you're not happy with their final responce or it takes over 8 weeks just forward the complaint to the ombudsmen. It's probably going to be about 30mins in total and even if it's not worth the £12 to you it might stop them trying it as often with their other customers.

Have you checked that the fault wasn't at your bank, and perhaps you didn't have sufficient funds when the DD was due to be collected by Barclaycard. I had this happen to me once many years ago. Because I was paying in full, unless the full amount was in my account, which it wasn't on one occasion, the DD didn't go through, even though it was only about £10 short at the time.

There was more than enough in my current account, if there wasn't enough surely they would have defaulted me for non payment that month? Even so, checking back over my statements there was enough in my current account to cover the credit card around the 1st April. And looking at my credit card statements it clearly says next payment will be May 1st thus entirely missing April! Madness!
