Casserole stewed steak was made by a company in ireland, which was due to close this year, which unfortunately means we can no longer buy this product in the shops. The last place I saw this product was in makro but it was in huge tins like 1500g. If anyone knows where to get the real thing, none of the others in the gloopy gravy will do could you please let me know. many thanks. Jadella0

Casserole stuff was good. I would warn against Ship brand stewed steak, it tastes foul.0

I too have been looking for the "Casserole ... without gravy" brand for about a year now. It stood head and shoulders above all the other brands in terms of quality and quantity. If its true about the factory closing then we have lost yet another product that was actually worth buying. Perhaps supermarkets buying power and our tendancy to 'buy cheap' has nudged this brand out and left us with the likes of John West and Princes 'in gravy' (which are nearly all gravy and very little meat).
I've read good reviews about M&S Stewed Steak, so I'll be trying that out soon.0 -
Gosh that takes me back! I haven't seen Casserole stewed steak for years and had forgotten all about it. My mum always used to keep a tin in and it made a lovely pie when time was limited. I can almost taste it now. What a shame that it seems to be unavailable these days. There was absolutely no waste and no gravy bulking up the contents of the tin."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
