Ah, that changes everything - in post #6, you said all were actual readings. Estimated readings (E) mean nothing. Customer (C) readings should be accurate so long as you've read the meters properly! Should be OK with digital meters. Which readings were customer readings (C)?0

Just had a thought, we have an electric power shower which is around 12 years old it gets used at least once aday and sometimes 3 times aday, don't suppose that'd make much difference would it?
Er, yes. It could do if used for nice long, hot showers. I think someone worked out a ten minute shower cost about the same as a bath. Not sure about that - someone else may confirm details.0 -

Sorry, all the readings are Customer readings.
Hmm, DH & DS are in and out shower people, me on the other hand I do take my time a little! Also the bathroom light is on all night but it does have one of those long life bulbs in.
Can't think of anything else it could be thats causing us to use so much. Hmm I'm going to have to investigate and see if maybe I can do something to the radiator in the shed!Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Hi Ruthibe,
I'm new to the forum, but have been using the site for years. If you still want someone to look at your bills for you, you can email them over to me and I'll see what I can do. You would be surprised at how many people find their utility bills confusing. Personally, I think the energy companies do it to keep people in the dark.
If you are already sorted, don't worry.0 -
Magenta - my gas meter is cubic feet.
I've decided that on saturday morning while DH is at allotment I'm going to unplug everything in the house for an hour and see exactly how much his shed is using! Maybe that'll get thru to him.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Thing with heaters are that they use different amounts at different times. If you check it on a day when it's warm outside, and it's been on all day, it might hardly click in at all. Bet that's not been the case all winter though! If you will keep you husband in the shed all day and all night, you must expect high electricity bills. It would be cheaper to keep him in the kitchen and ditch the heater.0

He claims his shed is his only escape from the family! hahaha I've often thought of just locking him in there.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. So how do I get rid of the economy 7?Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0

Ring your supplier and ask if they can change the meter free of charge. They may just change your tariff - you keep your meters and they add the readings together. Check their tariffs and ask to be moved on to the one that will be cheapest for you. If you're not sure, ask them to cost them for you. I would avoid any tariff with a penalty for cancelling it unless it's going to save you a lot of money.0
