M&S will stage penny bazaar to celebrate its 125th birthday
The high street giant will stage a three-day bazaar selling a range of 20 products which can be bought for just one penny.
The commemorative range includes jewellery sets, scarves, purses and underwear as well as cufflinks, ties and socks. Other items up for grabs include leather passport holders and luggage tags, tea towels, mugs, retro sweets and drink, beach toys and beach balls.
M&S chairman, Sir Stuart Rose, said: "M&S has been at the heart of Britain for 125 years and we believe that this is something worth celebrating. It has been a tough year for us all but people are fed up with being fed up and we wanted to give our customers a real treat."
The penny bazaars will take place at more than 300 main M&S stores for three days from next Wednesday.
The company says it has around two million of the penny products available, but once they have sold out, there will be no more.
The one penny price tag is a suggested minimum donation for the items and all the money will go towards the company's birthday charity, the 125 Charity Challenge.
Sir Stuart added: "M&S started off in life as a Penny Bazaar back in 1884, so what better way to share our birthday with our customers than offering them the chance to choose M&S products for just one penny?
"We have got two million one penny products available, but my best advice to our customers is to get to M&S stores as early as you can, as we are sure this is going to go down a storm."
Fashion model Twiggy, who fronts M&S's advertising campaigns, will open the penny bazaar at the company's flagship store in Oxford Street, London, on Wednesday morning. The company is also selling a new book, Marks in Time, which charts M&S' journey from a market stall at Leeds' Kirkgate Market to the international retailer it is today.

its all in aid of charity tho!
Events and promotions manager at Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG), Michael Armstrong, said: "All the Marks and Spencer shops across the country have chosen a different charity to raise money for and the Lincoln one is St Barnabas Hospice. It is a really excellent idea as the one penny collection is really good value and it might get people interested in buying other products once they are through the door. I think it is a fantastic thing to do."

aylesbury one is a local hospiceThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0
