  • The majority of us could probably see that it was a scam from the start, from the sellers story about moving to Italy, the email apprently from eBay covering the sale and of course paying by Western Union.

It's a shame that innocent eBayers aren't more alert when using eBay.

Can't understand why the guy did not insist on a cash on collection transaction. At least that way he could have seen the vehicle before they fleeced him. (As I bet the car would have turned out to be stolen or something if indeed it existed at all).
If he is in the car trade, he should have done a HPI check on it, at the very least, that way he would have known if it was stolen or still under finance etc. He seems a bit gullible!

Just what I was going to say.

Any car buyer whos shelling out 4,500 for a 20 grand car should have made a HPI check

Because he's a greedy car salesman who was blinded by the pound signs in his eyes.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

  • He may have been a car salesman, but he knew buggar all about ebay did he? Lets face it, most experienced ebayers can spot a scam.

I've been looking for a car the last couple of weeks, and came across a cheap car in good nick that should have been alot more expensive. The usual sign is Email me before bidding. Emailled the guy and he then stoppped the auction and emailled me saying exactly the same thing he was bringing it back from Italy etc, etc. I could have the car at reserve price of £A Dodgy Amount. Send money by W U!!

Needless to say couldn't hit the delete email button fast enough. Luckily I'd hidden my email address from him.

Anyway, back to the car salesman, proves that greed blinds people don't it?
My broad mind and narrow waist are slowly swapping places!!
