LCD TV is the extra 50MHZ worth £200?

thanx to all who offered their advice - as you probably guessed, I'm fairly technology illiterate & having spoke to OH last night advised him the family budget could do without the extra £300 spent on the better TV just so he could watch Liverpool throwing it away at the end of the season in clearer definition - managed to get the 40" Bravia V4000 for £688.50 interest free credit for 12 months - so I'm pretty happy with that deal - thank you one and all xx

What do these 100Hz screens show in those extra screen updates? There aren't any extra frames in the TV signal...
Do they generate something half-way between the previous and next frames?

they "predict" what should be in between it by looking at the before and after pixels.

100 Hz screens are so yesterday!

Panasonic (and LG) are now advertising TVs whose screens refresh at 600 Hz... :T

All you need is £lots...

Theyre not even sure what is truly noticeable to the eye. It was suggested you cant see anything above 80Hz. But now its possible that even thousands of Hz may be noticeable.
But at the end of that day, it means NOTHING if its not done accurately.

The Sony KDL 40W4500 is a really good tv.

I suggest you get the 40W4500. Really decent tv.

The Hz does make a difference. Sony now has 200Hz. Makes it more pleasing on the eye and less eye strain when seeing football or tennis i.e. fast moving pictures.

If you really want a decent tv you should get this. It has dropped in price dramatically and now roughly £950 in dixons.

Although a plasma tv it brings the best picture possible and blows any LCD tv away. It also has freesat (useless at the moment) and 600Hz picture. Currys and John Lewis have this on display.

we have a 100hz tv and can see no difference at all between the function being on or off. its a gimmick. like rik said though the 100hz tv will still be better anyway.

Well its not a gimmick Donna. Its just your tvs not good enough that it makes any difference, or could even make it worse when switched on (Or possibly it does look better and you just cant tell)

good or bad tv there is a demo function were one side of the screen is 100hz and one isnt. there should be some difference noticed when the demo is on.

You can not display a 100Hz picture next to a 50Hz picture, er how? Think about it...two refresh rates on the screen at the same time....its a simulation.
