Failed a credit check for a card can anyone help - details in here

I applied for an Abbey card today, which I was told I had a good chance of getting as I already have and MBNA card, only thing is that when they did the whole process of checking my rating I failed and didn't get the card... can anyone help me understand it all.

About 6 months ago I discovered that I had got a CCJ from an issue I was having from with the company that owns the freehold on my home. Due to major issues with the post to the properties and those surrounding me I never received the judgement and only discovered that they had gone to court on me when I checked my credit record a few months back. As soon as I found out I paid it in full and its marked as settled, so as far as I'm concerned I have sorted that out... but is that the case.

Does this have a bearing on my rating and will it effect everything I apply for now for the so called 6 year period that they stay on your file??? Is there anything I can do about it as I have never once received anything regarding this judment to know that I had got it???

I'd appreciate all help here thanks.

Yes a major bearing on your credit files - kiss goodbye to credit for 6yrs from date of ccj. write and ask the court to remove the ccj as you paid it and never received notice. although notice doesn't have to be given for a ccj - only a default.

    good luck, messy situation.
