Are Emachine computers any good.

I am not very techie on these things so any help much appricated, I came across this model of an Emachine and was wondering are they any good.
These are the specs

Processor: Intel Pentium 4
Processor speed: 2.93 GHz
RAM: 256 Mb
Storage: 80 GB
Records DVDs: 8x
Graphics: Intel 900

    what do you plan to use the PC for ??

    that would be no good for games for example

    I would like to use it to play 2d games plus everyday compter use.

    what are 2d games ??

    this uses "on board" graphics which will grab some of the measly 256mb of games you have installed

    they are to play diablo, half life etc

    Aren't those the recommended system requirements for Half-Life 2? The original will apparently run on a PC with a 133MHz processor and as little as 24MB of RAM!

    Diablo and Diablo ll with the expasion pack will run on an Athlone 700 with 384Megs of ram with no problems.

    Emachines is owned by Gateway. We bought 2 identical budget Emachines PCs in July and within 4 weeks the hard drive of one had failed! Assume this was bad luck, but a good lesson in backing up your files.
