Every year we try to throw a birthday party in mid May. We have been amazingly lucky the last 3 or 4 years and had glorious sunshine. The luck just can't last though. I need some suggestions. I don't really want to put up a gazebo (we don't have any and they only tend to be 3m x 3m) but need to be prepared with some sort of shelter.
I've seen sail shades online but they provide shade and are not waterproof. Does anyone out there know of something similar that is waterproof?

How about tarpauline (or however you spell it!)
As long as you have a shed, fence etc you can tack it to. Many a BBQ has been spent with blue tarpauline tacked against the back of our house and a fence.0
