We have french exchange students staying with us at the moment and I was wondering is it possible to get french language TV programmes through the sky dish. I don't particularly want to move the direction the dish is pointing.

If you don't want to move the dish the answer is no. Your dish is pointing at a satellite at 28.5 degrees and the majority of French channels are on satellites positoned at 19.2 and 13.0 degrees.
A motor for about £30 would allow you to switch between the satellites but you might then find that Sky have supplied you with a dish which is perforated, to weaken it, so you can't access other satellites.0 -
I don't know what it's like now but I remember when I had a moveable analog dish there were very few French channels, loads of German ones. I always assumed it was because they used a different PAL system but someone else may be able to explain this.Out on blue six..
It's Chips and Jackets, Peas and Trousers.0 -
Hi,
you get France24 on 513, and French films on 839.0 -
The only sky channel you can get in French is 508 Euronews. To listen to it in french you will need to select 'Services' on your remote control, then select 'System Set Up', then select number 3 languages & subtitles, then scroll down to favourite language and using the arrow keys go left or right to select the language you want. Last of all, scroll down to the bottom of the list and select 'Save new Settings'. It will only affect this one channel so don't worry about all the others. My brother has freeview and he can get some french channels but Im not sure which ones or how.Tact: getting your point across without stabbing someone0

There is a channel called TV5 which I believe is french, its among the foreign language section on sky.Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.0 -
If their tv is the same sort of drivel as ours, why bother?0

I though the whole point of a language exchange is that they're supposed to speak and listen to English while they're here? If they're going to watch French TV they won't improve their English much.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
