Part needed for vw polo 1.9 saloon
Options
I just bought a 2001 vw polo 1.9 s tdi diesel 4 door saloon.
It runs beautifully, but within 100 miles, the wiper linkage broke and must be replaced. I can't get a reconditioned part or used one anywhere. I could order it from VW but it would be well over £200.
Has anyone any idea where I can get spares for this type?
We now have a nice car that we can't drive if there is any rain.
I'd really appreciate any help on this.

Ordered the part from a company, yet when it arrived it was for a hatchback, rather than saloon. About 2" too small. Just received another one today, from a different company, after being so specific that it was for a saloon car, that the guy was laughing and reassuring me that , yes he got the message and would send the right part.
So what gets delivered?????? The part for a hatchback!!! AGAIN!!!!!!!
Thanks harveybobbles for the info. I have had a few quotes from partsgateway, but I don't think I can trust anyone to get me the right part now. VW are quoting about £85 for a new one, so we may have to go down that route after allFather Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

can you tell me the part number you are looking for?
The one ihave found doesnt say which it fits.War does not decide who is right, It decides who is left.0 -
As you have found out the Hatchback and the saloon are totally different on Polo's. You may have trouble finding a specific saloon one however the Polo Saloon shares the same front end as the VW Caddy van so try looking for one off that as it is the same.0

Hopefully have the correct part coming today through partgateway.

They sent the correct part and also the part for the smaller polo along with both wiper motors as spares!!!!!!!!.
Just to be sure we definitely got what we needed. How about that for service?
That was from Sanburn Autos, through Partsgateway. Would definitely do business with them again.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

When pricing up, it would help if you can get the part-number for the required part you need, from VW.
I used to go in to Audi and VW, and they'd call it up on their parts computer and quote me the price, or give me the part number code.
If I had the VIN of your car, I could look up and find the part number, on ETKA.
On VWs, the VIN is often on display, just below your windscreen, passenger side, on a plate.
Then when you have the part number, you check again for any newer versions, as sometimes they make upgrades.
Once you have the part number, you should have less hassle checking with other suppliers, and have them provide the correct part.
Also with the part number, you can sometimes find really good deals for replacement parts on ebay and other places.
This is just a guess and example.. and may be from the hatchback version, as I don't know your VIN. (Vehicle Identity Number)0 -
Thanks Dopester. That is good advice for the future. Mind you, I think from now on I will be using Sanburn for any mail order parts in the future.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
