help urgent

i have just installed avg as the security i got with the laptop has run out and it keeps telling me that the resident shield is not on.when i go to the security centre on my laptop i think i have put it on but then i return to avg and the message is still there. can anyone help please.

    Not that techie but try and reinstall it or you could open the AVG interface and turn it on, I think it has a way you can check it.

    Normally (and I have not got avg on my pc at the moment but have used it), its a case of double clicking the little icon in the right hand side to bring up the avg interface.

    And in there you should get an option to correct the problem.

    Additionally there might be a conflict between AVG and another application you have installed on your pc. You could try disabling some of the other non critical applications so they do not automatically start up but AVG does.

    i just unchecked the active box and then checked it again and it's now active. thanks for your help.
