How do I further adjust brightness/contrast display on Dell Inspiron laptop?

Great laptop but the brightness is too bright on the lowest setting.
Brightness is controlled by F4 & F5
Checked control panel display settings to no avail.

A solution would be greatly appreciated.

On my wifes Dell the brightness is increased by control and up arrow, and reduced by control and down arrow

Providing it's as low as possible via the keyboard functions, you may be able to further change the advanced settings in the graphics card (from the control panel, or if there is an icon bottom right) - you should be able to toy with further brightness and gamma controls and others.

Go into the bios settings on boot up - the Dell laptops (at least one I have, dell latitude) have a brightness setting in the bios - clever eh, no one will ever know!
