How do I hide my domain info on WHOIS sites?

hi, when I search for my domain name on a whois database, it comes up with my full name, address etc, but I know that this can be hidden so that it stops it from being easily accessable by the public, how do I do it?

    If you register the account as an individual and state this, then you do have the option for hiding those details, otherwise no choice.

    I *think* the rules have recently changed and that you can register as 'private' to hide your info whether you are a company or individual or whatever. I was only looking at this last week (we own around 12 domains at work). Worth checking with your provider.

    My domains are registered with 123-reg and you can opt out if you are a "non-trading individual" via the Manage Domains area of the control panel, I would imagine most companies do the same.

    If it is a .uk TLD Domain then you must include your address on WHOIS unless you are an individual and the site is not being used for any business or trading purposes - Nominet's terms and conditions clearly state this:
    11: We will make your personal data available in the following ways, but not release it for any other purpose to any other person. We may:

    11.2 include it on the WHOIS (which is also available outside the EEA) and PRSS. For these purposes we will publish your name and (unless you are a consumer and choose to opt out) your address, but not your phone or fax number or e-mail address;

    --
    You are a consumer if you are an individual not registering, using or planning to use the domain name as part of a business, trade or profession.

    So if your domain is used for just personal purposes then you can opt-out to not show your address but that's all you can remove. You should be able to do it with the company who you registered the domains with in your control panel. If not, contact the company or use Nominet's registrants online system if they have sent you a letter with a passcode to access it.
