Nationwide - what is going on?

Greetings all!
Ok, so I applied for a Nationwide Flex account to take advantage of the free Euro transactions. Today I found out that I was declined and I have no solid idea why.
My main account is with Lloyds and I have no outstanding debts (except student loan). I have never defaulted on payments and I believe I have a good credit history - I often rack up ~£1-2000/month on my cc and pay it off immediately. I have a stable job in banking (not retail) and very decent wage, but I have still been declined…. The only thing I can think of is that I’m probably not on the electoral role at the address i registered with NW.
Anyone have any insight as to why I’m not good enough?
Many thanks,
Duke

Obviously without knowing your credit history it's impossible to be sure, but they are very picky. I was declined on my first attempt and I also wasn't on the electoral roll then so I think that is a pretty big factor for them. Based on my experience and others who have posted here, you seem to get the best results when applying online and not requesting an overdraft. Ultimately I ran a cash card account with them for a bit while I registered on the electoral roll then applied for a debit card card account and was accepted (and was offered a gold credit card to boot - go figure!).0

Hi I was declined about 18 months ago, again couldn't understand why as very good credit history, good wage etc etc. I telephoned them but they wouldn't tell me why. Reading between the lines at the time I believe I was probably too good a customer, in other words didn't want their insurance, unlikely to go overdrawn therefore they would make no money out of me!!!
I tried again a few months later online and was accepted. It's worth trying again as it is a great card just difficult to get.0
