Private feedback on Ebay?

I've just bought something on Ebay. All turned up, as described, however since I bought the item the seller has put his/her feedback as "private". Should I avoid them like the plague next time? Why would someone want to make their feedback private? They've got some negatives, but nothing amazing.

I personally am a bit wary of people who make there feedback private and will not buy of them. But if this buyer has been ok in the past then i would think it was ok to use them again, but just be careful especially if buying something very expensive.0

You could always ask them why. Usually it is because they have something to hide!! silly of ebay to enable people to do this really! ???

or they've bought something they're ashamed of and don't want people to see what they're upto.0

I tend to agree with what others have already said, private feedback makes me very nervous. I can't think of any good reason to hide feedback and would tend to avoid buying from sellers that hide ther comments.

Private feedback is OK.
Some people put there feedback on PRIVATE because they have nosey friends and family..ie.. i would'nt want my g/f to know how much i spent on her xmas pressies, would i?.. :P0 -
Thanks for your replies. It does seem strange as they have a 99.6% positive feedback! Hmmmm. Anyway, at the end of the day I got my item in good condition from them. I just probably won't go back to them again for anything else!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0

also possible they buy off Ebay from different countries and sell in the UK on Ebay and don't want people to see how much they're paying and where they're getting it from.0

In the ebay area I'm interested in, serious ebayers seem to use one name for buying and another name for selling. This way, you can't see a buy price, followed by a later sell price. I've managed to match a couple of them to eachother, but casual visitors wouldn't see what was going on.
So, when you check somebody's feedback, look whether it was received as a buyer or as a seller.0
