Sounds more fishy to me. How did Sky get access to bank statements for a start? If that's the case here?

Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Sky didn't see the bank statements - the OR did.

We had sky prior to br. We had to cancel it due to affordability at the time, and a final bill was issused to us for about £20, this however did go into the br pot, (basically because they refused to let us cancel whilst still in contract so we had to get the OR to sort it out) anyway, what with the digital crossover in the west country we had a chap doing the door to door sale of sky about a month ago, the first thing I said to him was don't bother, we went br last year and doubt we can have sky back. He said that they credit check the houses before they call so we must be ok (no doubt sales speak-very much doubt there would'nt be a grut big x on our name/house). So he came in, organised us to have a free skyplus box free installation (final countdown offer) and we have a basic package. Pay by direct debit.

Apologies for the waffley way I go on, but just wanted to let you know that we had no problem, even though they had been named in our br.

They must have got the details form my bank sstatement, but what difference does it make to them anyway as Im not even on an IPA

Well, that's what I initially responded to. I'll go out and shoot myself.

    Merlin,

i think the op is meaning that the OR contacted everyone that appeared to have supplied the op with a service, having gained a list from the bank statements given in.

shoot me first then cos thats how i read it as well;) re-reading the post it didn't make it clear who the OP was talking about, alot of pronouns used without first relating them to a noun.;)

That is seriously odd - I was BR when I moved out of first rental house, and called them to see if they would take me on. The woman I spoke to said she couldn't see why not, and set me up, Virgin on the other hand were very upfront and told me no discharge certificate, they wouldn't touch me. Might be worth calling Sky again and maybe you'll get a different response from a different operative?

i always thought they had to first ask permission to do a credit check>so the sky rep that said he had already done a check before calling might have just been a line to get in the door,do sky do checks anyway cos its so easy for them to turn your sky off if you don't pay 1 month!

Thats what I thought too! I also put it down to sales patter but regardless they came and installed it all free. Payments started 14 days after the card was activated by direct debit.

Hiya ITBS....sounds like the ORs being as helpful as usual!
for what its worth? they did the same to me as well (not many will klnow but both me & ITBS ended up at the same office for bankruptcy)...informed Virgin media of my BR BUT I had the last laugh....i'd transferred everything into my OH's name so the OR office couldnt do a damn thing about it :p

(Hope your well & not long to discharge now?....PM when you get the chance be nice to catch up!)
