This is brilliant, thanks so much for all your help! I wanted 11 Didsbury Park for my bridal hotel if I got married in Manchester. I might reconsider Manchester now after reading all of this.
We should have Didsbury drinks! x0 -
You cant just get married anywhere, the site has to have a marriage license (in order to get this they have to be approved premises and conform with things like open to the public etc). Which is why many hotels and national trust properties are available for weddings.
Have found this site http://www.civilvenuesuk.com/ listing approved premises but have never used the site before so not sure if they are any good!Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
Have just done a quick search on that site under the Gardens/Parks tab and (my geography is not good lol) but one that might be close to you is Gardens Park Venue Title Wellington Park
Civil Ceremony Approved Wedding Venue Register Office Central Lancashire
Register Office Contact Details
Register Office Approved Wedding Venues List
The University of Manchester also seems to be approved premises but it does not say which building.
ROFL - just looking at this site apparently you could get married in Tesco in Cardiff lol

Not sure if this was directed at me or the op, but you can get married anywhere in Scotland , this is from the Humanism-Scotland websiteYou cant just get married anywhere, the site has to have a marriage license (in order to get this they have to be approved premises and conform with things like open to the public etc). !Scotland is one of only six countries in the world where Humanist marriage ceremonies are legal (the others are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway and certain states of the USA). Humanist weddings have the same legal status as civil and religious weddings as long as they are conducted by an HSS Celebrant, who has been authorized by the Registrar General of Scotland, and can take place anywhere 'safe and dignified'.Couples are effectively free to marry wherever they choose and HSS wedding ceremonies have taken place on beaches and mountains, in keeps and castles, grand hotels and the gardens of people's own homes.
Obviously no use to the op but may be helpful for others perhaps planning a Scottish wedding.Booo!!!0 -
It wasnt directed at you Violetta was just trying to help OP. Didnt really read what was in between, just skimmed it. Hope didnt cause any offence, certainly none was intended xTotal for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide

They are all trying to fight on the computer table as I type! The next door neighbour has got a dog walking service. Its called Telling Tales. You may have seen the van around Didsbury.

No problem - when I read the thread properly because of the wording I used, it did look like what I was saying you were wrong so sorry about that! Note to self - must read more carefully lol.
Was quite amused at the thought of getting married in Tesco though! Could perhaps glide gracefully down the pets aisle! Just imagine how much it would cost for a three course wedding breakfast at the Tesco cafe!!!Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
